Work
I left Cebu as a newspaper reporter. Now in Singapore, I'm a writer AND a photographer. Big smiles.:-) I used to think of photography as just one inclination, but never really imagined doing it for a job and see myself in some events with a Nikon camera hanging around my neck! But because I enjoy it, it doesn't seem like an additional work or burden for me but a new discovery and learning.
I'm working for an international Christian organisation. I take care of our publication - stories, photos, and website. I'm also learning and enjoying movie making - something I also didn't expect myself doing. My editor and I make short video clips occasionally. We plan to do more video on travel and people stories/documentaries. I'm excited. Grins.
Once in a while, I'm also tasked to do administrative work, like making P.O. (purchase order for our printing needs) - which I'm not very good at. I get tense when I see numbers. Thanks to my editor who knows I'm a writer, not an accountant. Not a secretary.:-) Whew.
I am quite thankful and happy for my job now and for my job then in the newspaper (SunStar Cebu). It created in me a vast experience that will always push me on. I also want to thank my Journalism professor MC who is now in New Zealand for investing in me and my class a lot of her expertise, time and faith. She's a gem.:-)
P.S. Hey, I've also become a better cook. My sunny-side up egg is not that bad anymore!:-)
